How to fit a straight stair runner

Here we give you a video guide on how to fit a straight stair runner and in this case it is a very nice wool herringbone carpet with a cotton border.

The how to guide

  1. Cut the gripper so it is slightly shorter than the width of the stairs. [1:00]

  2. Measure the width of the stair tread (the flat part that you walk on) and add a centimeter to find the length you need for the gripper. [1:20]

  3. Hammer one gripper into each corner of the bottom stair tread, making sure they are a centimeter away from the back of the stairs. [1:30]

  4. If you don?t have a straight edge, you can use a ruler to measure 47.5 centimeters from the corner of each stair tread. [1:40]

  5. Use a staple gun to staple the gripper to the underside of the stair tread. [1:50]

  6. Cut the carpet runner so that it extends over the risers (the vertical part between each stair tread). [2:00]

  7. Staple the carpet runner to the top of the gripper, starting in the center and working your way out to the sides. [2:10]

  8. Make sure the carpet runner is level as you staple it. [2:20]
