Handmade stair and hall runners in Putney

Cavendish deVere design and create custom and bespoke stair runners in Putney SW15. Almost all types of carpet can be used to make a runner - sisal, seagrass, coir and jute and of course, traditional flat-weave carpets and stripes etc. We design, supply and fit runners for homes, apartments and hotels in Putney.

The process

While a straight set of stairs is a fairly straight forward proposition (no pun intended!), if you have winders - stairs that go around corners, then you will need a template created to cut the carpet to the right shape. We will come to visit you in Putney and measure the flights of stairs. We'll bring samples and discuss your requirements.

After the quote

Once you have accepted the quote and depending on the complexity of the design and the staircase (if it has stripes or winding stairs for example), we will return to the property to create a template. The carpet is then ordered, delivered to site, cut to size, taken away to be whipped and bound to seal the edges or a bordered tape is stitched on. The runner is then carefully checked for defects and delivered to site for fitting.

What People Say

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you and Hughie for all your efforts in kitting us out with a new runner on the main stairway. It looks great and I look forward to many years of wear and tear on what looks to be some extremely hardwearing material! Hughie and his young apprentice were consummate professionals.
